New Trend In Media Communication: Motive Use Of Media Twitter For Teenager oleh Yuliana Riana & Rino Boer

Social  networking sites are an interesting medium of communication nowadays. Twitter is one of social networking sites that are popular, and also the latest information and real networks, Twitter can be shared and viewed by all people around the world. Indonesia as the country with the highest penetration of Twitter user in Asia becomes attraction to be investigated. Uses and gratification theory used as a basic to determine the four variables that affect the selection and use of Twitter. It is assumed the use of Twitter is driven by specific motives. This study uses the classical paradigm with quantitative approach. Data collection method used was survey by using questionnaires as the instrument to 200 students of STIKOM LSPR as respondent. To analyze the data, confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), multiple regression with measurement are carried out using SEM. The result showed that the motivation of information, personal identity, social interaction and entertainment affect the student in the use of Twitter. Dominant motivation is entertainment. Therefore, there is a tendency of respondent choose to use Twitter to relax, spend leissure time and get pleasure.
